Meet Dr. ira goodman
Dr. Ira Goodman
Dr. Ira Goodman, a native New Yorker, has been living and working in the Chicago area for nearly 40 years.
Dr. Goodman first attended medical school at the Faculte Libre de Medecine in Lille, France, and after two years there, transferred to Rush Medical College, from which he graduated in 1983. After completing three years of post-graduate training in General Surgery and practicing general medicine in the New York City area, he returned to Chicago for his training in Anesthesiology and Pain Management.
Following completion of his training, Dr. Goodman remained on the faculty at Northwestern University Medical School for 2 years, teaching residents and fellows in both Anesthesia and Pain Management, and directing the Pain Clinic at Columbus Hospital.
Dr. Goodman then entered private practice, joining the anesthesia and pain management group at Hinsdale Hospital, for which he served as Chairman of the Quality Improvement Committee for 8 years. Dr. Goodman left the practice of Operating Room Anesthesiology at the end of 2000 to focus full-time on Pain Management and was one of the founding members of Pain Specialists of Greater Chicago in Burr Ridge, where he practiced for more than 20 years, helping it grow to multiple locations and become one of the preeminent pain practices in the Chicago area.
In late 2021, Dr. Goodman joined the Chicago Institute for Neuropathic Pain, where he continues to flourish as an experienced and compassionate provider of Interventional Pain Management care, diagnosing and treating a broad spectrum of acute and chronic pain conditions, with a special interest in chronic neuropathic pain. He feels especially happy and privileged to be working side by side with Dr. Rock, with whom he shares very similar strategies on how to diagnose and treat pain patients.
